Every event is different and that’s the bit we enjoy most. A baby shower for twelve doesn’t need the same setup as a wedding for a hundred and fifty, and a corporate away day has a completely different energy to a milestone birthday. We get that, and we plan around it.
Here’s what people book us for most:
For smaller groups, the cafe restaurant works as one space – relaxed, warm, and easy. For bigger events up to 150, we open things up and create two or three seamless areas so guests can move between inside and the terrace without it ever feeling cramped or cut off.
We’re not a blank-box venue. The space has its own character, the food is cooked on site, and the team running your event are the same people who run the place every day. That’s what makes the difference.
A place with character
Exposed beams, open terrace, and room for up to 150
The first thing people notice is the ceiling – high, open, with exposed timber beams that give the whole place a sense of scale without it feeling cold or empty. Brick walls, warm lighting, plants everywhere, and enough natural light to make the space feel alive during the day and atmospheric in the evening.
The cafe restaurant works beautifully for intimate gatherings as a single space. For larger events, we set up two or three connected areas so your guests can move freely between inside and the terrace without things feeling sectioned off or awkward. It flows naturally, which is harder to find in a venue than you’d think.
Then there’s the terrace. Open air, looking out over the Surrey Hills countryside, and the kind of spot that makes people linger longer than they planned to. On a warm evening it practically runs the event for you.
Parking is on site. The location is easy to find. And once your guests arrive, everything they need is right here.
Food that fits the occasion

This is one of the things that sets Maddings apart from most venues. The food for your event is cooked fresh on site by the same kitchen team that runs the cafe restaurant day in, day out.
That means seasonal ingredients, local produce, and dishes made properly. Whether you want a sit-down meal, a sharing menu, or something more relaxed, we’ll work with you to build something that suits the occasion and the people coming to it.
Drinks are taken care of too. We run a full bar service, so your guests won’t go thirsty. If you’ve eaten at Maddings before, you already know what the kitchen can do. If you haven’t, come in for a meal first. It’s the easiest way to see what your guests will be getting.
